After an 18-month absence, Autumn Richardson and Richard Skelton return to Cumbria to continue their research into the topography, place-names, history and ecology of Ulpha, near the Duddon Valley. The artists will be delving into the local archives in the hope of uncovering the hidden narratives and forgotten histories of this sublimely beautiful landscape.
The Good Life is upon us. Artists Tyman and Rushton have created two socially interactive artworks for Lanternhouse. The first artwork is a replica of Thoreau's Cabin. Tyman and Rushton's Cabin is situated in Eskdale Forest in West Cumbria. Various artists, writers, thinkers and enthusiastic locals have been invited to live in the cabin for a series of days. They will then respond to the experience they've had via writing, drawings, anecdotes, or photos. The second artwork created by Emma and Derek is The Stage. This is an interactive artwork sited in our Barn. From May to September a series of new events will take place on this space. This includes a Band week, a Philosophy Cafe, a Speakers Corner weekend, schools workshops, family workshops and much more. Check our upcoming for what's on.
